HOLLYWOOD, CA – TUESDAY, July 1, 2014 – Mance Media, a global film and television distribution company based at Sunset Gower Studios in Hollywood, CA, today releases the official trailer of the Max Von Sydow-starrer “DRAGONS: REAL MYTHS AND UNREAL CREATURE” featuring Mance Media’s new theatrical logo.
Mance Media will be releasing DRAGONS in the U.S. on HD Blu-ray, 3D Blu-ray, 4K VOD and HD VOD (including itunes, google play, and Sony Playstation 4) on August 1, 2014.
The movie was directed and written by Marc Fafard, and stars Max von Sydow as a dream therapist trying to help a young woman who has frequent nightmares about dragons. Dragons, filmed in a docu-fictional approach, utilizes computer-generated imagery to explore the legends and science surrounding dragons from countries such as China, Japan, Mesopotamia, and the United Kingdom.
Synopsis: Skye Ingram (Laurence Leboeuf) has had frequent nightmares about dragons, to the point where it's interfering with her daily life. Because of this, she decides to seek help from Dr. Alistair Conis (Max von Sydow), an eccentric dream therapist and expert on dragons. As the pair works together to uncover what is triggering Skye's distress, they recount the various stories about dragons and their connections to various facets of human and natural society, such as history, literature, national identity, and art. Their work is eventually discovered by Dr. Vulnet Grazinar (Serge Houde), Dr. Conis' nemesis.
It was recently announced that Max Von Sydow will be joining the cast for the upcoming Star Wars film directed by J.J. Abrams.
Amsterdam-based Colorbleed Studios designed the original Mance Media still logo and Quebec-based SFX company Studio Element designed the animated theatrical logo. The score is finished in 5.1 surround sound and the video is in the new native 4K format.
Mance Media’s theatrical logo features a “Blade Runner-esque” sweeping reveal of Los Angeles’ downtown city skyline facing south with the Capitol Records building in the foreground. The score is a build up of anticipation as booms of thunder and lightning drop in the background with the final unveil of the Mance Media text by way of a searchlight.
“It’s distinctive, modern and bold,” says Mance Media’s CEO, Matthew Mancinelli
Composer Jacob Yoffee (“Delirium”, “Blue”, “Pawn”) provided the score and engineer Adam Schmidt (“Inception“, “Dark Knight Rises”, “Savages”) provided the final sound mix.
Mance Media plans to release 5 to 10 films theatrically per year in major cities (limited releases), and window thereafter across all platforms, including OnDemand, iTunes, VOD, DVD, and Blu-ray as well as structuring the U.S. television premieres. Each theatrically released film will have a P&A allocation.
Feature film theatrical distribution is the latest business model extension for Mance Media, adding to 4K content distribution and international film and television distribution.
Mance Media’s first theatrical push will be the release of A LEADING MAN, the drama starring Jack Yang (“New Girl”, “Grey’s Anatomy”), Heather Mazur (“Matador”, “Switched At Birth”), Kate Miner (“The Campaign”, “Necessary Roughness”), and Tsai Chin (“Memoirs of a Geisha”, “Joy Luck Club”) due out September 5, 2014. It was an Official Selection of the Austin Film Festival and Dances With Films, among others.
